About the role:
The Screen Reader SME will support and empower users to hear and navigate within Google products. Your role within the organization will be of major impact for people that prefer audio content over text. The Screen Reader SME will not only support customers but also team members learning through peer to peer learning.
Required Experience:
3+ years being a native screen reader user for web and mobile applications (ChromeVox, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA, etc.)
3+ year knowledge of web accessibility guidelines, and familiarity with Section 508 guidelines (Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 accessibility standards and guidelines)
1+ years experience and general knowledge of Google products (Gmail/Doc/Sheets/Meet/Android Accessibility Suite feature, etc.) - Accessibility features
Able to support Tier 1 representatives with Screen Reader questions
Role will support customers’ business, mainly escalations
Preferred Experience:
Knowledge and experience with web technologies and/or web content management systems
Experience using assistive technology with Google products (a plus)
Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and other web technologies (a plus)
Able to train/coach Tier1 representatives to support customers’ business
Good understanding of how screen readers work (API/DOM)
Qualifications and Skills:
B.A. or B.S. in computer science, information technology, human computer interaction, or related field preferred
Excellent written communication skills for heavy documentation; verbal communication skills for training and development
