Summary:

The TELUS International Tax team provides critical expertise, consultation and counsel to the various entities and business groups, domestic and international, within TELUS International. As trusted advisors, we help support complex business transactions with insights and recommendations that influence decisions made by stakeholder and senior leaders. Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

Reporting to the US Director Taxation, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of US income tax - compliance, income tax provision support and tax planning for TELUS International.

Here’s how

  • Assisting with the U.S. tax compliance activities including preparation of corporate tax and information returns (Forms 1120, 1120-F, W8-BEN, W9, 1042, FBAR), gathering information for the preparation of the corporate income tax returns, preparing working papers for the calculation of BEAT, GILTI, Forms 5472 and 5471 and preparing reconciliations to accounting records.
  • Assisting with all aspects of U.S. tax planning including U.S. merger and acquisition activity, IRC Section 382 analysis, purchase price allocation, modelling the economic impact of proposed legislation, etc.
  • Supporting the tax provision process
  • Assisting with audits by tax authorities
  • Researching U.S. tax issues and documenting analysis and conclusions
  • Monitoring technical changes in U.S. tax laws and global developments which impact U.S. taxpayers, and assessing practical implications for TELUS International
  • Assisting with the calculation of earnings and profits and maintaining data on tax attributes
  • Understanding and supporting compliance with established tax department processes and ensuring compliance with controls around U.S. tax (e.g. SOX, internal control requirements)

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Valued for your more than 5 years of US income tax experience, in-depth income tax knowledge and strong technical competence
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and transactions including reviewing and researching technical taxation materials and legislation
  • Engaging communicator with strong verbal and written communications skills; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with taxation authorities, peers and service providers
  • Planner with the ability to develop schedules, prioritize multiple activities, and anticipate roadblocks; able to manage multiple deliverables to meet deadlines and goals in a fast-paced, complex and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to work as an effective team member, to work well in a cross-functional team environment and create and maintain strong working relationships across the TELUS International team
  • Willingness to work toward required outcomes even when circumstances are challenging (e.g. tight deadlines, limited information or resources, new processes, etc.)
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity and ethics with a desire to learn and become a value-add team member: hands on approach to problem solving in a proactive and collaborative manner

Great-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business
  • Completion of or working toward an accounting designation (CPA)
  • Experience with US income tax preparation and accounting software (Workday, Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word) [Any US tax software?]
  • Experience with tax research platforms such as Bloomberg
