As a Senior Design Specialist on our Digital Life and Connected Home team, you will develop and support market leading digital services. This team is a part of our Future Friendly Home Services DevOps team, which is responsible for the end-to-end technology development and operations of TELUS’ Optik TV services, video and over-the-top services, broadband network capabilities, smart home automation and security solutions, and software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions.

  • You will demonstrate a strong knowledge and competence across multiple IT architecture domains. Ex: API gateway, data analytics, cloud to cloud integration, platform & infrastructure, orchestration, IoT, identity, and many more. 
  • You will be responsible for solution development, alignment and adherence to the technical vision and roadmap for our digital life platform. 
  • You will demonstrate strong capabilities for coordinating various objectives of multiple internal and external partners in an effort to drive extraordinary end-to-end user experiences for our customers.
  • You will demonstrate exceptional technical aptitude, leadership and communication skills with various 
  • stakeholders.
  • You will collaborate proactively with peers and leaders in identifying opportunities to improve our customer facing processes and practices.
 
Here’s how

  • Establish the data management and governance framework to ensure data integrity is assured through its entire life cycle – from collection to transformation, to modeling and insights to retention and removal.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve batch and real-time data pipelines.
  • Support consumers with understanding the data outcomes and technical design.
  • Research the relevant domain knowledge and recommend what appropriate analytics and data architectures are warranted.
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams in an agile environment.


Qualifications:
  • You are the missing piece of the puzzle
  • Strong experience with more than one of the following Data platforms: Splunk, ElasticSearch, GCP BigQuery, and AWS RedShift platform.
  • Strong ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
  • Strong experience in methodologies and processes for managing large-scale Data Warehouse.
  • Strong experience for building dashboards by using Looker, Grafana, or Kibana.
  • Strong ability to design, create and maintain the data platform data model at the conceptual, logical and physical level.
  • Establish data security, quality, load, transport and performance models.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide follow-up and user training for assigned works.
  • Perform testing and data validation for newly developed dashboards and tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and business intelligence know-how in addressing business needs.
  • Strong scripting skills with python or perl.
  • Strong mindset to stay on top of emerging technologies and industry trends.

Great-to-have skills:

  • Proven communications skills in storytelling for wide audience and executive leadership
  • Experience with Snowflake or Databrickes
  • Experience with Kafka or Spark
  • Experience with AI/ML solutions
