Position Overview:


The Computer vision division at Telus International is looking for an experienced ML engineer to lead the ML team. With the acquisitions of Playment, TELUS International’s Computer vision division is one of the leading developers of data labeling products & solutions for the world’s leading autonomous driving & technology companies.

Our team works on building machine learning solutions in the field of autonomous vehicles (Multi-sensor object detection & tracking, 2D/3D segmentation) and meta learning (active learning, semi-supervised learning). Our ML team develops applications used in human-machine hybrid data labeling systems for the world’s leading autonomous vehicle & technology companies.

You will lead a distributed team of ML research engineers, MLOps Engineers & product managers to define the ML roadmap, drive best practices and own outcomes. 


Example projects:

  • Develop tools to interactively segment images & point clouds to reduce human effort
  • Train object detection & tracking models to pre-label multi-sensor data from Lidars & cameras
  • Explore methods to help customers identify “interesting” data in huge video datasets, which can be sent for labeling
  • Develop tools to help customers calibrate their sensors without the need for a traditional checkerboard based calibration

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Advise our product and leadership team on opportunities for improvement in our products and identifying any additional value we can offer to our customers

Required Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • A masters or PhD degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a Machine Learning / Computer vision related field
  • Deep knowledge of Deep Learning, Transformers, Neural Networks, MLOps and the complete ML product development Lifecycle.

Experience and Education:

  • 3+ years of experience working with autonomous driving / ADAS technologies.
  • Experience leading teams and owning outcomes.
  • Experience working with distributed teams.

Pay:

RThe base compensation range for this position is $150,000- $200,000 commensurate with experience. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
