We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Communications Manager for a full-time role as part of our fast-growing Global Marketing Team. As the voice of TELUS International, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with multi-functional teams across the company and around the world. We are seeking a media-savvy individual with a deep connection to the tech sector and an understanding of what it means to be relevant and innovative in the rapidly evolving digital customer experience industry.

This role will report directly to the Director of Global Communications and Public Relations, and will work closely and collaborate with: Vice-president, Global Marketing; Vice-president, Corporate Strategy; Director, Product Marketing; Director, Analyst Relations; Director, Investor Relations; Director, Internal Communications; and others relevant to the subject matter. This individual will also help manage an external PR agency and other contractors as required to support objectives when deemed necessary.


The ideal candidate is a tech enthusiast who has the ability to marry strategy and creativity to bring a storytelling sensibility to every media pitch, press release and article to bring TELUS International’s solutions and culture to life. You are client-centric and have a strong track record of producing high-quality written content and an ability to deliver on objectives and evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment. The individual must also have the ability to work with highly confidential information and have an uncompromising eye for quality and detail while working on several projects simultaneously.


Success in this role requires collaboration, communication, initiative, leadership and vision. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Support the development, execution and measurement of the overall public relations strategy in support of the company’s growth strategy, vision and values.
  • Oversee PR initiatives for the company’s senior leaders and executives, developing thought leadership platforms and serving as a trusted partner and advisor.
  • Draft external corporate announcements/press releases, manage and respond to media inquiries, and support executive media interviews by preparing messaging briefs and coaching as needed.
  • Define and measure PR effectiveness via tracking and analytics.
  • Work with Investor Relations and Finance Teams on quarterly earnings announcements and support the development of key messages for all related media touchpoints.
  • Support crisis communications efforts, tracking and collecting information, creating and disseminating key messages, and responding to the media.
  • Advise and support regional PR teams around the world to enhance their employer brand in our global markets.
  • Support an executive speakers bureau, sourcing external speaking opportunities and podcasts, and supporting the creation of speeches and presentations as required.
  • Support an executive awards program, researching award opportunities, and completing nomination packages.
  • Work closely with and support the management of an external PR agency to enhance the team’s ability to meet challenging objectives and metrics.

Education, Qualifications, and Core Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in communications, public relations or journalism or equivalency in experience.
  • Six to eight years of experience, which includes designing, building, and executing comprehensive media and public relations programs.
  • Excellence in writing, editing and proof-reading.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and creative skills with the ability to interpret and integrate insights and industry trends into focused communications to support business objectives.
  • Understanding of the news environment in the U.S. and Canada, and what journalists seek in a story.
  • Excellent time management skills; highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience working with colleagues in different countries and an appreciation for cultural differences.
  • Ability to work from a remote/home office and effectively deliver measurable results with diplomacy and adaptability while handling multiple tasks and prioritizing activities.
  • Familiarity with using SEO to enhance online content to improve search engine rankings.
