Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Accounting and working closely with the Chief Accounting Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Lead the monthly close process for the Canadian head office
Coordinate with the regional finance teams to facilitate a timely and efficient global close of the group, and review the monthly results submitted by each region
Collaborate with Finance and IT stakeholders on the governance of the chart of accounts on Workday financial system
Lead the reporting process to our controlling shareholder using the SAP system
Prepare and review the financial statements for various subsidiaries for the purpose of periodic legal entity Board meetings, annual audits, tax or other regulatory requirements
Monitor the progress of statutory financial statement preparation and audit worldwide through direct oversight or collaboration with regional finance teams
Manage the intercompany journal entries for non-operating activities such as financing charges arising from newly-acquired entities
Provide accounting support as needed in connection with the preparation of tax returns
Support the broader Finance and Accounting team on ad-hoc projects as directed
Qualifications
At least 8 years of relevant experience
Experience in a global business environment required; public company experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
CPA, CA designation, in good standing
Excellent accounting and analytical abilities
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
High attention to detail and organized working style
Ability to work collaboratively across regional and departmental functions

The primary responsibilities for this role will focus on the monthly close process at the corporate office and statutory financial reporting in support of various compliance requirements, but the role is expected to evolve and grow over time.
