Within the Technology Strategy and Business Transformation (TSBT) business unit, the
Strategy and Transformation Office is at the forefront - leading the path to position TELUS
for long-term success that delivers on the promise of a connected digital world. This journey
involves our teams becoming increasingly cloud-focused and embracing new ways of
working. Together, we drive the high-level planning, coordination, and mobilization of
transformation initiatives in TBST. We lead technology strategy, transformation planning,
investment management and executing on strategic programs.
Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together:
As a Senior Technical Writer on the Strategy & Transformation Office team, you will help
TELUS accelerates our transition to a more product-centric, cloud-native organization. You
will do this by helping aggregate and document architecture frameworks, blueprints,
patterns and software code. If you have a good knowledge of diagramming and modelling in
various architectural and/or software engineering domains, the ability to produce artifacts
from different viewpoints (products, customer requirements, information/data,
technology/applications), this role is for you.
Here’s how:
You will lead the documentation of architectural frameworks, blueprints, patterns,
and code that will allow TELUS to become a product-centric organization.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on architectural artifacts
fostering buy-in and adoption of standards.
With a strategic focus, you will ensure artifacts are meeting both our strategic and
operational objectives.
You will proactively identify and resolve all architectural documentation issues,
employing strong tactical and critical strategic thinking and engaging organizational
resources as required.
You will work with minimal or no supervision and use virtual collaboration tools
such as Slack or Google Hangouts to communicate with the team.
You will handle medium to large documents and structures and work towards
modularization, and reusability.
Qualifications:
You are the missing piece of the puzzle
At least 3 years of experience creating end-user or developer documentation.
Deliverables can include user and administration guides, installation guides, release
notes, help/FAQs, developer guides, API guides, configuration guides, integration
guides, product overviews, wiki-style technical knowledge base, technical articles,
and video tutorials.
Able to effectively work under different development methodologies. Follows a
defined documentation process and is able to see possible improvements.
Possesses skills to create documentation deliverables of good to high quality in
terms of the following: accuracy, clarity, style, conciseness, organization, structuring,
visual effectiveness, task orientation, and consistency.
Able to proficiently review technical documentation, share knowledge, coordinate
activities, and perform other tasks that require senior-level expertise.
Working knowledge of integration architecture and technologies including REST,
Open API (v2+), Swagger, Microservices, SOAP, Service Lifecycle Management
platforms (Stoplight.io, Kong, Apigee, Mulesoft, API Connect)
Working knowledge of Cloud-based capabilities and architecture (GCP, AWS, or
Azure)
Advanced technical skills appropriate for the domain of architecture
(development languages, technology platforms, data modelling, domain-driven
design, infrastructure, etc.)
Experience supporting DevOps teams with Solution Architecture, Solutions
Design, and Engineering
Experience crafting, building, and maintaining High Availability systems
Experience in crafting and socializing technology roadmaps
Great-to-haves
Experience in working with TOGAF, ArchiMate, TMForum, microservices,
cloud-native technologies, or API (KONG), Blueprism.
Knowledge of documentation around CI/CD pipelines.
Experience in working with DevOps teams.
