Global Database Administrator Sr. Team Leader

About the role

As a Global Database Administrator Sr. Team Leader, your role will be split into 2; the first part encompasses hands-on work on different technologies globally; and the second part encompasses coordination of workflow for IT Global Operations T3 Database Administrators as the well technical development of the team in order to provide first-grade technical support. The DBA Sr Team Leader works along with other IT Team Leaders to ensure continuous availability (24x7/Oncall) and global support for local and global Database Administration Engineers. Overviews and prioritizes work towards standardization of processes as well as automation of tasks involving maintenance and policy enforcement. Addresses all troubleshooting incidents and issues related to systems under the team scope so these are accurately reported, tracked, monitored, and resolved in accordance with its severity. Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner to decrease downtime. Monitors Sustainment-related projects and implementations to support the IT business goals. Develops, maintains, and provides different types of reports as required by his Manager


Responsibilities:

Leads local/global Database Administration Engineers I/II/III, assigned to his team, these include team engagement, scheduled 1on1s, Workday vacations, PTO, leaves, PPO & PPR reviews, and approvals. Handles and manages the troubleshooting and resolution of problems and issues in a timely and professional manner ensuring activities are documented properly. Supervises, delegates and executes projects related to sustainment, standardization & growth-related initiatives. Is responsible to manage and ensure tracking of efforts and man-hours. Monitors and supervises activities of DBAs to ensure availability of TI global database system services. Creates procedural documentation involving standardization, inventory, etc. Coordinates creation, and correct implementation of Changes by one of his team members or himself. Assists Manager on weekly KPI’s tracking and review with Systems&DBA leadership and team members (Global weekly meetings).

Define, plan and implement Database systems upgrades as well as other appliances upgrades. Performs peer reviews for Method of Procedure and enforces Policies and standardization. Works hand in hand with Technical Account Managers, Project Managers, and other functional areas within the Company and ensures that all Database Systems requirements are met. Coordinates special/emergency requests in relation to Database System requirements under the agreed scope and ensures uptime SLAs are met to cater to Business demands. Maintains cordial working relations with vendors and/or service providers to expedite the processing, acquisition, and delivery of systems equipment. Participate in all meetings associated with business development. Provides Support to Global Security Audits, SOWs, etc. Meets and coordinates in a regular manner for technical updates, issues, and resolutions with IT Leadership, Special Projects Manager, general I.T. Management and client (internal / external). Perform other project-related duties as requested by management that includes but are not limited to: Database Assessments, administration, deployment, configuration and recovery of DBMS, Database Inventorying and documentation, Implementation and enforcement of DB Best practices, least privilege models, Backup&Recovery practices; DB Monitoring and tune-up, HADR Failover and management of several DBMS.

Knowledge:

  • English - B2:

  •Oral and written comprehension

  •Appropriate use of the English language

  • Ability to successfully lead and mentor a team of Database Administrators & Engineers on a project and day-to-day basis; be able to provide input to team member objectives and performance appraisals.

  • Familiar with Financial budget management: Opex, Capex. (desired)

  • Proficient in using MS Office and/or Google Suite.

  • Ability to track KPIs/SLAs.

  • Proficient in creating documentation such as policies, procedures, reports.

  • Overall technology understanding and know-how. (Operating System, Database,  Network, VDI).

  • Miscellaneous Operating system knowledge and practice background within Databases scope.

  • Strong skills in Miscellaneous DBMS and SQL Language

  • MSSQL 2005 - 2017 | MySQL 5.0 - 8 | PostgreSQL

  • Cloud Technologies Google Cloud Platform | AWS | Azure

  • NoSQL (Riak/Redis/MongoDB)

  • SQL Development

  • Common troubleshooting knowledge and debugging for multi-tiered architecture.

  • Powershell Scripting, Bash Shell Scripting, Python Scripting.

  • General Knowledge of Programming Language and their interaction with DBs PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS working knowledge.


Studies & Experience:

  • Cloud interaction, GCP/Azure/AWS.

  • Minimum of 4+ years experience in a DBA/DevOps development role

  • MCSA SQL - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (desirable)

  • Experience handling multi-tiered Database Solutions

  • Experience in Microsoft Windows and Linux.
