As an Oracle DBA, you will be a key member of the overall client project team. The main objective of an Oracle DBA at TELUS International, is to install and create Oracle databases, perform upgrades, and manage database backups or recovery when necessary. Your expertise is the essential component we’re looking to make everything fall into place.

You will be Responsible for

• Performing installations and configurations of grid infrastructure, databases, clients etc.

• Designing and maintaining access and security administration.

• Designing implementations, backup maintenance, and recovery strategies on Database Management Systems.

• Support in multiple services and multiple databases of medium complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of data.

• Designs installations, configurations, and High Availability maintenance (RAC, RAC One Node, Data Guard etc.) Database solutions.

• Setups using OEM as a monitoring and diagnostics tool and identify/resolve performance issues.

• Troubleshoots alerts (alert log, Jobs, Disk Group, Tablespace, etc.) and performance issues.

• Performing capacity planning of Oracle server environment and providing recommendations to management to sustain business growth.

• Designs, implements and maintains Disaster Recovery (DR) methodologies and creates documentation.

• Gathers business requirements and designs, and implements multiple projects along with production support.

• Mentoring support for Database Administrators and Associate Database Administrators.

• Perform research and provides plans to remediate complex business problems.

• Assist the development teams to improve database design and procedures on PL/SQL best practices etc.

Qualifications and Skills

• 10 + Years of experience

• Seeking an experienced DBA with extensive knowledge of PL/SQL programming and database architecture. 

• The ability to read, analyze, and enhance PL/SQL scripts delivered to our team by the development team. 

• Able to utilize all Oracle DB tools and functionality to create/modify PL/SQL scripts for performance on large DBs and datasets. 

• Thrives on problem-solving and is able to apply those skills to think outside the box to engineer new solutions as well as improve existing solutions. 

• Good Experience with Oracle RMAN and Golden Gate.

• A good communicator to interface with APO production DB support teams. 

• The ability to write detailed documentation along with MOPs for all projects assigned to them.

• Strong knowledge of database architecture and its implementation

• Strong understanding of best practices in maintaining medium to large-scale Oracle database systems

• Strong knowledge of PL/SQL programming language

• Strong understanding of Change Management procedures

• Strong knowledge of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application

• Strong understanding of ctechnologies related to SQL server disk layouts

• Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux/Solaris operating systems and shell scripting

• Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel

• Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks and prioritize effectively.

• Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties

• Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)

• Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations

• Ability to effectively consult with department managers and leaders.
