Role Summary: 

TELUS International is looking for a Dutch language specialist for a linguistic role in the field of technology. The role of the Associate Linguist is to provide linguistic expertise for developing NLP tools for the target language.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Annotation

• Creating grammar rules

• Formulating language templates

• Finding patterns

• Evaluating existing data

Ideal candidates will have native level of fluency in Dutch language and demonstrate some of the following:

Knowledge and experience

• Solid and comprehensive understanding of the formal aspects of the target language (e.g. grammar, parts of speech, formal/casual/dialects)

• Knowledge/awareness of linguistic terms and concepts

• Working knowledge of complex tools, e.g. CMS, SQL, Advanced Excel/Sheets

• Some knowledge of programming/coding (e.g. HTML, R, regular expressions)

• Good understanding and interest in the current technology landscape: IT & computing, AI, machine learning, voice assistants, internet of things

• Experience in testing, data processing, database management,

• Formal linguistic education is a plus - preferably higher education (MA or MsC).

Skills

• Grasping technical concepts and learning new tools

• Excellent attention to detail

• Ability to work independently with confidence and little oversight

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Extra points for:

• Experience using NLP tools and concepts

• Experience in annotation work

• Knowledge of formal linguistics

Location

The role will be a full-time position in Dublin. Candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland.
