At TELUS International we are looking for a senior experienced, highly motivated Microsoft SQL Server DBA to join our team in St. Louis, Missouri! 

We are seeking a highly motivated expert that is passionate about Database engineering and interested in working with cutting-edge technology in a global environment.

As an MSSQL Server DBA, you will be responsible for the implementation, installation, and configuration, maintenance of servers and backups, database provisioning, database tuning, and monitoring, securing data, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. The main goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our various corporate applications.

You will be Responsible for:

• Designing and maintaining access and security administration.

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and recovery strategies on Database Management Systems.

• Supporting multiple services and multiple databases of medium complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of data.

• Troubleshoots alerts (alert log, Jobs, Disk Group, Tablespace, etc.) and performance issues.

• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

• Identifying areas of the SQL environment that are suited for automation and then implementing a solution using a variety of tools from applications such as HPSA or through scripting (PowerShell, TSQL).

• Performing capacity planning of SQL server environment and provides recommendations to management to sustain business growth.

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining Disaster Recovery (DR) methodologies and creating documentation.

• Gathering business requirements and designing to implement multiple projects along with production support.

• Creating standard operational procedures and templates.

• Acting as a mentor for Database Administrators and Associate Database Administrators.

• Performing research and providing plans to remediate complex business problems.

Knowledge and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science preferred)

• 10 + years of experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server.

• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools

• Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.

• Experience with SQL in a virtualized environment (ESX and Azure).

• Knowledge of Always-On,  High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.

• Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.

• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.

• Experience working with Windows servers, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.

• Excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with technical, and non-technical employees and vendors.

• Strong problem-solving, testing, and network troubleshooting skills.
