A TELUS International we have an opportunity for an experienced NoSQL DBA that will add value to our team in St. Louis, Missouri!  We are seeking a highly motivated expert that is passionate about Database engineering and interested in working with cutting-edge technology in a global environment.

This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining NoSQL-based infrastructures in support of high-volume, complex data transactions for specific services or groups of services. 

With a focus on the infrastructure and operational elements of designing and deploying a database solution, the NoSQL DBA must ensure the databases are highly available, have sufficient capacity in place, and are fully resilient across multiple data centers and cloud architectures.

You will be Responsible for:

  • Providing NoSQL support for a diverse SaaS platform including MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, HBase, Couchbase, and Cassandra.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production to maximize availability and protect data integrity under the guidance of Product Engineering (development) and L3 DBAs

  • Participate in patching and upgrades during scheduled maintenance.

  • Creating and maintaining runbooks for typical DB tasks, and when possible, assigning and overseeing tasks for L1 DBAs and Saas Ops staff to perform

  • Providing extended availability for emergency issues that may arise out of business hours, respond to pages and calls that may be automated when critical systems require support.

  • Participating in an on-call schedule with other team members to provide availability during known days/hours

  • Working with software engineering (development and support) teams to diagnose outages or other issues and resolve them quickly.

  • Learning to use existing or future monitoring tools to provide Operations and Engineering the ability to monitor platform health and performance.

  • Spreading knowledge across team members. 

  • Identifying knowledge gaps, create documentation, cross-train, learn, and share new ideas


  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science preferred)

  • Experience level required 10 + years

  • Strong knowledge and experience deploying, administrating, tuning, monitoring, and maintaining database technologies including but not limited to: 

    • MongoDB

    • MongoDB Atlas

    • DocumentDB

    • DynamoDB

    • HBase

    • Couchbase

    • Cassandra

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with technical, and non-technical employees and vendors.

  • Strong problem-solving, testing, and network troubleshooting skills.
