Description and Requirements

As a (Project Lead/ Project Manager) you will have an opportunity to exercise strong collaboration skills with technology peers delivering engineering designs that build the TELUS customer facility. You relish the opportunity to lead the evolution of a strong and established team through a disruptive technology change. These technologies will impact daily routine but you are committed to leveraging existing expertise while pivoting to new technologies with a focus on maximizing the benefit for team members and the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • To be an Inventory expert for Access Fibre Networks who can carry out all engineering Design requirements of the project with the Customer's engineering requirements, Engineering guidelines and standard practices and create/modify GIS Inventories.

  • Creation and maintenance of the database for all copper and fiber cables, switches, and special equipment, Floor Plan, Site Layouts. 

  • Analyze the requirements of the job to determine what steps need to be taken and follow a workflow. 

  • Interface with and respond to internal and external stakeholders. Communicate with external / internal customers to clarify customer needs.

  • Collaborate and facilitate on reaching specific goals even when faced with ambiguous situations.

  • Deliver on the mandate of deploying transport technologies for the TELUS transport and fiber network.

  • Lead by example supporting our onshore variable workforce and offshore partners.

  • Confident with various technology tools deploying DWDM, OTN, SONET, Fibre/Copper networks.

  • Knowledge of core network technology, architecture and elements, and a strong understanding of their associated inter-workings.

  •  Good technical skills on Telecom Fiber/Copper Network architecture Planning and Engineering. 

  • Planning & Designing experience of fiber connectivity for FTTx Optical distribution networks to provide GPON services to customers. 

  • Thorough understanding of FTTx/FDH network design principles & industry standards. 

  • Understand Low Level Design (LLD) & High Level Design (HLD) for FTTx access and Metro. 

  • Adequate knowledge in GIS tools & applications like Spatial NET.

  • Basic experience of SAP , Net Cracker , Remedy Ticket systems.

  • Identify any related projects and networks created that will be built detailed in the current tactical plan (Network Management Systems, Feeder/Transport Fiber Builds, etc.)  

  • Drafting and GIS analysis concepts (Deployment of fiber for GPON project aerial as well as underground).

  • Knowledge of telecom products and services for business customers.

  • Knowledge of outside plant design

  • Experience in equipment installation, provisioning, test center, coordination and central office maintenance would be an asset.

  • Demonstrated effective decision-making skills while under limited supervision.

  • Demonstrated professional oral and written English communications skills.

  • Self-motivated, works well with minimal or no direct supervision.

  • Ability to effectively handle both favorable and unfavorable customer interactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments.
